You can add Twitter as one of your social media links on your website, twitter allows you to post html code letting people see your latest tweet right from your site.

Complete the steps for setup and use your About file to post your information, this will stay the same throughout the sites and add a website link to your site.
Upload your profile picture, you can change this when you have a new photo of yourself or new logo. You can also customize your background image and tile it or use www.twitterbackgrounds.com. This theme should be consistent in color from your website design.
Connect your Facebook fan page with Twitter - www.facebook.com/twitter
Select your name wisely, you will attempt to use this throughout your social media sites.
Use the search feature to find keywords that are relevant to support your niche.
#hashtags put you into categories on twitter. #author would put your tweet with others that are also talking about authors. Create your own unique #hashtags and use them everywhere. When you are on Twitter, check the latest Trends and see what #hashtags are being used, find some that you can create a post using.
Follow other people on twitter that are interesting. Initially you will be following those that follow you to gain followers.
Tweet on relevant, educational, and entertaining content that provides value, you can also retweet from others.
Be consistent with posting. When you are on twitter, post a few tweets, retweet a few people and check in on people you are following or just recently followed you.
Post pictures, quotes, links, youtube videos.
Answer peoples questions
Create Lists, such as business contacts, health, writers, mentors, travel, add twitter people to these lists.
Make sure you add your link to your website intermixed in your tweets.
Ask questions
To build followers on twitter the more you tweet and interact with people the more you will establish credibility.
