The Fall season starts September 22nd and those of us with children are getting into a rhythm of schedules with back to school started in most areas. What has been your experience so far this September?
I've learned to be flexible and adapt with my family. Many students have online learning but some have the option of going to school with masks required during the current COVID pandemic. So far my kids do online learning with the choice to go back to school when they are ready. I also work at the office a few days a week and then from home the other days. This makes it nice to help my kids with school work or just having lunch with them when I have a break. What's your routine look like? Each child and parent will have their own routines and schedules as things progress into the Fall season. Have you started working on yours yet? We use the Calendar app on our phone to set dates and reminders for upcoming events. I've done a few Zoom conference calls working from home, it's been fun but recently I had to text my daughter in the next room to come get our noisy dog. This is what they call the new normal of life. Have you made any recent posts on your social media or news on your website? As I see on my own website I haven't updated the blog in a while. I've been focused on my clients sites and social media and also updating Facebook with my latest news. My friend and coworker Beth Gatrell reminded me that it's time for a new blog update! A great thing about life is to just get started if you've stopped. It's ok, it will take a little time to get the search engines zooming in on your website again but if you have past content that intrigues people that will always be working for you. Today I started again and created this blog post. I love checking out what's going to be happening in the month that I'm in and I visit sites that have the holidays listed. I used https://nationaltoday.com/september-holidays/ to get a few great ideas for posting and creating content. It's National Online Learning Day today, wishing those online learners the best of success today and for the school year! A few other post ideas I liked for the month is, Sunday Sept 20th is National Pepperoni Pizza Day, Monday Sept 21st is National Day of Peace, and Tuesday September 28th is National Coffee Day along with World Heart Day. As I look to the future of my posting I see a few days sharing some pizza with friends, peaceful talks, coffee time and a few healthy thoughts about Hearts. It's pretty easy to make out the plan for the month when you see what kind of days are coming up. I hope this tip helps you in your business. If you don't have time for research and development of your online social media than you've found the right connection, it's what I love helping my clients create. Please feel free to subscribe to the newsletter to get more tips and news. If you're wanting to do a Zoom meeting or in person meeting send me an email. According to an infographic from Zipsprout, sponsoring an event is one of the channels most businesses have yet to try.
The infographic is titled, “Going Hyper-Local: How Sponsoring an Event (Like Goat Yoga or a Garlic Festival) Can Grow Your Business.” And it makes the case for why more businesses should look into events as a marketing tool to reach local audiences. If you are a local small business owner, sponsoring an event is a great way to introduce yourself to your neighbors. Not only does it build brand awareness, but it shows potential customers you are doing your part to help the community you work or may even live in. The Impact of Digital Marketing The introduction of digital technology and marketing soon thereafter has changed the way businesses engage with their audience. Unlike the cost and expertise needed for launching campaigns on TV, radio or print, all it takes is an internet connection and readily available free tools for digital marketing. The infographic by Zipsprout says social media is the most used marketing channel by businesses, which accounts for 70%. This is followed by email at 44%, digital ads at 42%, SEO at 39%, and content marketing at 27%. Print ads and direct mail are used by 28% of businesses. The Benefits of Sponsoring an Event The infographic points out 71% of local businesses are satisfied with the results of community sponsorship. And participation doesn’t mean you have to spend money. Donating your branded products as well as volunteering your time and free services can have the same impact. If these actions speak the values of your company, it is an important factor for many customers. This is because Americans support or reject a company based on the positions they advocate, with 87% saying they will make a purchase based on values and 76% doing the opposite or boycotting if they don’t agree. Do you have a referral program in place for yourself or business? Today I will be sharing the reasons I love referral programs and also ways to become sponsors for events to help increase your marketing.
I completed a Live Facebook where I shared my computer screen and showed the different companies that I have either created an affiliate link, have a referral post, or sponsored an event. The first company, Million Dollar Sisterhood offered a simple but great idea for marketing, a Free Facebook group to help support those interested in learning the skills of Speaking at Events and creating Presentations for your business. This group was something they have as their Free offer on their website www.milliondollarsisterhood.com. A referral company that I reviewed was Brandless that offer a referral link if you share their information on your social media pages. If someone clicks on the link you get a certain dollar amount towards your goods that you'd like to buy from their online store. The third company I reviewed was Younique, I was asked to be an Affiliate from a friend on Facebook. She has a beauty company that she represents and asked if I would like to be a special affiliate for the week. All I had to do was wait for her to send me what images to post and the post description, I could edit as I wanted and then anyone that clicked on my link and ordered I would get party points. It was fun and super easy to post and share. I used Bitly to make my links shorter and more memorable to clink on, for the Makeup company the link I used http://bit.ly/AwesomeEyelashandMakeupLink. The fourth company I reviewed was Branch Basics an eco-friendly house cleaning products company. They have a simple sharing tool that posts a link on my social media pages offering $10 off to customers on their first order. With any order that they receive they credit me $5.00 to use on my personal order. Something that is also helpful to spread the word on your company is to look for events that you can Sponsor or get involved with. My son Nate has joined with a Collegebound company that provides events for the students to host and they earn money for college expenses to pay for on campus housing and food costs. His first event that he is hosting is a Scavenger Halloween Selfie event. Companies can be sponsors of the event and get their name recognition and be included in the special sponsored category for the scavenger hunt. Pro Watercross is a jet ski racing company that comes to Naples for their World Championship event. I help with their sponsorship program and on their website they have posted about the different sponsors that are involved so far. This month they will be transitioning to a nonprofit status and companies will be able to write off their sponsorship on their taxes. If you have an interest in sponsorship please send an email to [email protected]. The last company I reviewed that has an Affiliate program in place was Ivory Mix. This company offers beautiful stock photos and programs to teach bloggers how to use them in their posts and create beautiful social media posts. Watch video below: If you have any questions or comments on referral marketing or affiliate marketing please leave me message. I'll be sure to respond. Also if you'd like to know how your company can create a referral plan or participate in a sponsorship program I offer a 30 minute free consultation. All the best, Nicole Flothe www.jenstarmedia.com A great Mentorbox review by Lizzie Flothe, 5 ways to instantly get more paying customers online with Alex Mehr, Ph.D., CEO, MentorBox. Tip #1 - Have a Strong Hook. This is the number one way - focus on core emotion that makes people stick around, it's the main reason people get your product. A good hook addresses a core emotional (or physical) need – directly or indirectly, tapping into your customers underlying desire. It places the user in the right frame of mind to absorb your actual marketing message. The title of your presentation is the hook. Solve the right problem and create your title with this in mind. Tap into a desire - example from MentorBox - Read like a CEO. Tip #2 - Build mini-hooks around your main hook. Mini-hooks are little things that are related to the main hook but slightly different. They are adjacent products that can make your hook stickier. Tip #3 - Be congruent - repeat the same thing many times, everywhere. You need to be repeating the same thing to allow your message to finally sink in. The first time you say something it doesn't always sink in, you need to be repetitive. Tip #4 - Stack benefits, and overcome objections - you need to make offers that are irresistable. The way to do this is to stack benefits. Make a list of all the things you will provide.
Tip #5 - Pay close attention to customer lifetime value. (it's more than you think) Build relationships with customers. Focus on retaining customers as much as getting new customers. Bonus: **Always have a bonus** - right at the end offer a bonus. This is my summary and interpretation of Confidence 101 a MentorBox lecture by Jonathon Kendall. Confidence is living by how you see and judge yourself, rather than how others see you. According to Confidence 101 a MentorBox lecture by Jonathon Kendall, there are four easy steps to achieving a confident and ultimately a successful life. First of all, you need to acquire a sense of self-compassion. Self-compassion is the act of forgiving yourself for any possible outcome that is not desired, rather than throwing yourself under the bus, before anything has even happened. Many people have said that "the battle was lost before it had begun" and this is true in many situations. Relating to an event, it is often true that before the event has even started, people have already decided their fate, that they will fail, and so they do. Self-Compassion makes this impossible, as it is the forgiveness of yourself before any of that ever happens. This means that there is no more such thing as "failing", and now there is only something to be gained, either you will succeed, or you will better yourself and learn from it. This effectively eliminates a lack of confidence because you know that no matter what, there is only an upside. The second step to becoming a confident person, is to prepare yourself. If you work, day in and day out on something, than you are eventually going to become an expert at it , and therefore confident in it. Something that you practice your whole life is something that you will be good at, and so preparation will leave you with confidence in yourself to complete a task within that range of skills and activities at a high standard. The third step is to give yourself somewhat of a confidence bubble or force field that allows you to block out all negative comments and concerns. This bubble keeps you focused on you and not focused on what other people think of you. Often people allow others to negatively impact their confidence and their view of themselves. This bubble that is sometimes a little bit of an ego, reflects all negative opinions, and only concerns itself with those that will make the person better as a whole, not worse. To take it even further, this bubble should be surrounded by positive influences, and that comes down to the decisions we make concerning the people that we surround ourselves with. The goal, no matter how hard, is to eliminate those who degrade us as an overall human being, and draw closer those who improve us. The fourth and final step to living a confident life, is to build yourself up, using previous experiences and events to build confidence just before an event. Right before an event, there is a sense of extreme anxiety and nervousness that comes over you, making everything else that has led up to this event pointless. During this time, it is important to not try and avoid these feelings, but rather try and redirect them into something positive. You can think about previous positive experiences to lift you up, use music to hype you up, or do other activities that you enjoy that are exciting and confidence boosting to you. Getting "psyched up" as they called it, is necessary to getting good results, as right before an event, in a time of need, you have to rise up towards success. As much as confidence is a very useful thing, the last thing that I gathered from this lecture was that it is important to draw the line between confident, and overconfident. Overconfidence leads to failure, as you may not worry enough or stress enough on the preparation that is required for good results.Confidence isn't about walking around like you are the best in the world, or showing everyone else that you are better than them, it's all about how you feel inside, whether or not you are meeting your own standards on a daily basis. Connect with me on Social Media Nicole Flothe Instagram - @nicoleflothe @growalocalbusiness Facebook - @nicoleflothe @jenstarmedia @heartbeatconnection www.jenstarmedia.com Developing Your Marketing Plans can be easy with a system in place! 5 Tips to Help you with setting up your holiday marketing plan: #1 Use iCal or Google Calendar to select the holidays you'd like to celebrate and post a marketing campaign. You can also google holidays and go to sites that have listed every day of the month and what interesting celebrations are happening. Who knew there was Take Your Daughter to Work day coming up April 27th! Once you select your holidays then start working on finding photos to make the holidays. #2 Find photos to work with the holidays you've chosen to market. There are many sites that offer free photos to use. I love pixabay.com, but there are others, like unsplash, pexels.com, picjumbo.com, freeimages.com, etc. You can decide what photos based on your theme but also look at how many times the photo has been downloaded or other stats that some websites provide. It can impact your traffic by the better image quality and reviews. #3 Create a list of your favorite quotes or find a website that has some amazing quotes that you can redesign and use on your images. Goodreads Quotes Brainy Quotes Values Quotes Pinterest Quotes #4 Find Fonts that you Love and use those throughout your posts that you create. Fonts 1001FreeFonts Google Fonts #5 Be consistent in your Image design and text layout
Once you start to develop the look and feel of your holiday design and are consistent your followers will begin recognizing you amongst the massive level of posts that happen around holidays. If my image is always soft and feminine or bold and beautiful then my market that I'm trying to find would be more female than male. If I posted more mountain photos or outdoor adventure images then my fans would start to find me if they are the outdoor adventure type. You can also type in those keywords when you are looking for images and fonts. I hope this helps in your holiday marketing plans! Wishing you much success and a Happy Easter! xo, Nicole Flothe @trackthetime www.facebook.com/jenstarmedia Top 10 Facebook Tips: Tip #1: Make sure your Facebook Header & Profile Photo reflect your brand and have a description in the image post. Today's example is a local Naples business Facebook page Kitchens By Clay. Tip #2: Video is Hot on social media! Create short video clips relevant to your business and also share videos from other Facebook pages that are specific to your industry. A great example is a local Naples business Facebook page Rocco's Tailor Shop and his other page Jackets Required. Also, The Clay Place, owner, Jim Rice, creates short video clips and shares them throughout the month on his fan page. Tip #3: Create a list of what to post on your page. If you're in the marketing industry like I am, on my Facebook page JenStarMedia I share information from my list. My categories are business tips, social media marketing, video, what's new in the industry, blogs of interest, design. Once I created this list then I developed my #hashtags...#socialmedia, #jenstarmedia, #businesstips, etc. Tip #4: Decide on a weekly posting plan. You can get ideas from others in your industry on what to post, here are some ideas... *Inspirational Quote *Personal Image (You/Your Products) *Update on something new on your website or something they can find on your site *Offer Contest *Short Video *Share a Helpful Tip *Fun Fact (Personal or Business) *Share a Resource *Breaking News *Holiday Tip #5 Find a program to create images and cover art for your fan page. I love Stencil and have partnered with them to promote their easy to use services. There are also other sites like Canva, PicMonkey, BufferApp, Pagemodo, and Post planner that can help in the creation of photos or post creation. Tip #6 Complete your about section with rich keywords and a full introduction about your business. At the end of the about section put your website link and all your other social media links. Tip #7 Join Groups and create Events. There are so many groups that can be in your niche, business groups, marketing groups, selling groups are just to name a few. Project Outreach is a group that I am a part of and they help serve the community by offering volunteers for charitable events and also have their own events to give back to the community. They are currently fundraising to help with their upcoming events and created a Golf tournament event. Once you've joined a group, interact with the latest posts, then you can begin sharing relevant news or stories in that group and direct them to your fan page or event. Tip #8 SHARE and INVITE Friends to Like Your Facebook Fan Page or create a Group and ADD MEMBERS. Read Ways to get more Likes blog here. I also found, not everyone that likes your posts is a fan of your page. Make sure to check your likes and if the person isn't a fan yet you can invite them. Tip #9 Always like and thank your friend or fan for sharing or commenting on your post. This builds friendships and a stronger relationship with your contact. They are more likely to revisit your page if you show them you care. You can also visit their fan page and if they have something relevant to share you can share something of theirs on your page. Tip #10 Be consistent. Don't fall off the social media path by not making any posts for months. But if you do, it's alright, just pick back up and once you've posted at least 5 recent posts you'll begin to look relevant again!

Recently, I was on a bloghop for YouTube and found a series of videos on IHeartFall. Vloggers were making videos with a series of questions they had to answer about fall and what they loved about it. They would then tag their friends and ask them to reply to the video. It sparked my interest and so my friend Shelly Aristizabal and I created our Google Hangout on what we love about Fall. Here is the video below... Let's have some fun! Answer these three questions on a video! Share it here!
